Reliance’s Chairman’s vision to enable a digital India, and the enormous potential to transform people’s lives for the better triggered my decision to relocate with my family from Germany to India in October 2014. What a ride it has been since, with many rewarding milestones on the way, such as the employee launch in December 2015, the beta launch in the first half of 2016 and our commercial go-live in September 2016, leading to world-record customer acquisition numbers. From the first day I have felt warmly welcomed to the Reliance family. I really believe that people are our biggest asset. In my mind, the Jio way of working takes the agile methodology to a next level – a relentless quest for the best solution and a determination to radically pivot if required. We are proud to lead innovations and leapfrog technologies – even on an international scale – for example in customer on-boarding and with our voice-over-LTE experience. However, in true Reliance style, we are already looking forward to our next milestone!
“Faster, Higher, Stronger” may be the Olympic slogan – but life in Reliance is equally exciting. Working as part of the Reliance family has brought out the best in me, constantly pushing me to challenge known norms and benchmarks, redefine them and raise the bar for myself. The organisation has allowed me to develop unparalleled self-confidence and gain expertise in a range of areas. Multitasking is a way of life at Reliance, and the most rewarding part is discovering newer capacities in oneself. Being led by a very hands on leader like Mr. Mukesh Ambani provokes breakthrough ideas by the minute, and then one gets an opportunity to bring these great ideas to reality. At Reliance, I don’t look forward to the end of a project but to the beginning of yet another project – re-inventing myself and my way of doing things in the process. Reliance has given me infinite courage to think, learn and achieve – and to do so consistently!
I joined Reliance in 2001 as a Trainee Security Executive and was enrolled in intensive training at the academy, where months of hard training moulded me into a capable officer. I have had the opportunity to work across Reliance sites – from Jamnagar to Dahej to Kurkumbh. I currently head Reliance’s Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) & Security Network Operations Centre (SNOC), from where we monitor global security challenges and work to avert any potential losses to Reliance. I also run REFERS – a unique programme through which we respond to any kind of emergencies that Reliance employees and their family members might face. My role also allows me to significantly contribute in the areas of site surveillance and crisis management. At Global Corporate Security (GCS), I handle a portfolio of critical and challenging responsibilities in a leadership role. The exposure and opportunities that Reliance presents to me help me make tangible gains – for myself as well as for the enterprise. It is a great feeling to be a part of the Reliance family!
Working at Reliance is not just about having a job and earning a living, it is about building a rich career. Reliance provides an optimum environment in which I have the freedom to navigate through an ocean of opportunity to experience and experiment with a variety of business opportunities and challenges. Working in Reliance is synonym for excelling in any field of technology of your choice, as well as having a well-balanced and integrated work and home life. Thanks to Reliance, I can dream of being a successful leader and a loving mother at the same time.
Interacting with companies from all over America, Europe and India, I have found that most work environments, especially in this part of the world, demand (both implicitly and explicitly) a conformity to their belief system. However, Reliance, staying true to the beliefs of its Founder Chairman Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, is different. Reliance gives its employees a paradigm that is rooted within its values & behaviours, but at the same time it gives them the opportunity to focus on their strengths and deliver results. When I interact with my colleagues across Reliance, I am amazed at the diversity of contributions and the camaraderie with which teams come together to achieve seemingly unsurmountable goals.
Reliance has provided an excellent set of opportunities where I have had the privilege to work on exciting and emerging areas in both of my, previous and current, roles. I joined Reliance as an Executive Assistant to the head of R&D, where my role evolved into assessing innovative technologies for techno-commercial potential, and managing an early stage technology development project involving stakeholders from a variety of Reliance units. In the centralized R&D unit, these projects accentuated the value of ‘One Reliance’. In my current role in the Petrochemical Business Development unit, I look at emerging technology platforms to build a potential business for Reliance’s future growth. The impact Reliance can have with an entry into such novel areas is a major factor that motivates us to deliver with excellence. In an essence, working at Reliance means opportunities, innovation, team work and impact.
Working at Reliance means being part of a truly diverse team, consisting of experienced global leaders and young ambitious talent that is constantly crashing boundaries; but more importantly consistently adding value to our society. Reliance offers the ideal playground to explore, understand and tap your true potential. This organization is very supportive of professional endeavours that match with our guiding principles, resulting in spirited growth of both – the individual and the organization.
I have served the prestigious Army Medical Corps as an ophthalmologist for over a decade and truly imbibed the discipline that it stands for. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that a civil organization like Reliance follows equally stringent guidelines and protocols and is no less streamlined. The state-of-the-art building of at Dahej, my work station, the latest and most modern facilities available at my work place, the regular continued medical training capsules, the computerised medical system, it all adds to the charm of working in an environment which is safe and friendly to its employees! I love the way the employees are kept engaged in various activities which makes one feel wholesome, valued and appreciated. I look forward to more challenging roles and leadership assignments at Reliance.
