What are the
advantages of using Recron® 3s in AC
products?
- Recron® 3s
is added at a small dosage of 0.4-0.5% replacing
1:3, 1:4 times the Asbestos fibre known for its
carcinogenic nature and health hazards. Leading
to saving in the cost of raw material.
- Recron® 3s
addition improves the runnability of the
machine.
- It also improves retention of the slurry
material on the sheet matrix - thereby resulting
in clearer sieve filtrate and bringing down the
load on the effluent control system drastically.
- Recron® 3s
works as a wonder fibre in small dosage level
bringing the improvement in the flexural
strength of the sheets. The field results over a
long period have shown that sheet with
Recron® 3s have
reduced breakage's in production, handling,
storage, transport and at customer end.
- Use of Recron® 3s also leads to
improvement in the load bearing strength.
How does
Recron® 3s
perform in AC sheets?
- Recron® 3s
spreads in three dimensions gives effect through
out the matrix. A number of micron diameter
fibres improve the flexural strength and form a
net, which helps in better retention of raw
material while sheet/pipe formation.
- The unique crimp provided to
Recron® 3s
results in excellent locking of the fibres
within the matrix, helping utilise the full
strength of the fibres, without any slip out.
How is
Recron® 3s added
in the process?
- The required quantity of Recron® 3s is added to the
Hydro-disintegrator/slurry mix tank after taking
the standard water quantity used. The fibres
completely disperse in few seconds under
vigorous agitation available in the system.
- Then, asbestos fibre, cement and other
additives if any, are added followed by the
usual process.
- By observing the edge of the sheet
cutting/pipe in wet stage against the light, one
can easily see the uniform dispersion of the
fibres.
What is the
increase in cost while adding Recron®
3s?
Recron® 3s addition not only
gives back the cost of added fibre but also
ensures direct saving in cost by removing
asbestos fibre, by three to four times of its
weight.
A 100 TPD plant should ideally save Rs. 45
Lakh /Annum on raw material alone.
It also results in direct savings in terms of
reduced breakage in handling, storage,
transportation and installation. Plus, indirect
benefits in improved quality and customer
satisfaction.

Anywhere & everywhere that cement
is used, Recron®
3s has some role to play.
What is the
role of Recron®
3s in construction
industry?
Recron® 3s is added at a small
dosage of 0.25% on the weight of cement, helping
in various ways to improve quality of
construction as well as raw material, labour,
time and money saving.
- Controls cracking

- Reduces rebound loss - Brings direct savings
and gains
- Increases flexibility
- Increased abrasion resistance
What is the
use of Recron®
3s in plastering?
- Use of Recron® 3s 3s checks plastic and
drying shrinkage cracks and plastic settlement
cracks.
- It helps in reducing the water seepage
through the micro-cracks formed in plaster and
thus protects the iron rebar from corrosion.
- Recron® 3s
reduces the rebound loss of material by 50-70%.
This result in direct saving of raw material,
bringing back the cost of Recron® 3s added, resulting in
equal amount of money saving. The faster pace of
work and the saving in labour are added cost
savings.
- The plaster free from micro-cracks also
improves the aesthetics and helps avoid the
expense on frequent repainting and repair work.
What is the
role of Recron®
3s in concrete?
- Cracks in concrete are accepted by
construction industry to be natural to its use.
Recron® 3s
developed by Reliance helps in avoiding the
micro-cracks in the structure improving
longevity.
- The micro-cracks formed in the plastic
stage, at the cement curing stage and drying
stage are arrested by the physical presence of
Recron® 3s in
three dimensions throughout the matrix.
- The corrosion of primary reinforcement over
a period of time through seepage of water from
the micro-cracks is avoided. The rust stains
free structure gives added quality to the
construction.
- Recron® 3s
also significantly improves resistance impact
and abrasion improving life of road, flooring
etc.
How does
Recron® 3s
work?
Recron® 3s when mixed with cement
in the concrete batch mixing/ mortar preparation
stage, spreads throughout the matrix and gives
three-dimensional secondary reinforcement. It is
also known to improve workability. The early
micro-cracks formed due to heat of hydration,
shrinkage and expansion before and
post-hardening are avoided by the presence of
Recron® 3s,
which acts as a barrier for further propagation
of cracks.
The cohesive mix results in the lower rebound
loss and saving of raw material, labour, time
and money.
How is
Recron® 3s added
to the
cement/concrete/mortar?
Recron® 3s comes in pre-weighed
packets and standard dosages of 0.25% (125gm per
50 Kg) cement bag or 0.9Kg per cubic meter of
RCC. The packet contents are mixed in water in
the site mixer & then sand / chips are added
and mixed for 2-3 minutes. The standard
preparation procedure is followed thereafter.
Recron® 3s is
used in manual mixing where the material is
added to say one fourth packet to 5-7 liters,
stirred and added to the sand and cement mixure.
The mortar is then mixed as per standard
practice.
What is the
extra cost of addition of Recron®
3s?
Plastering - Bo extra cost.
Saving due to reduction in rebound loss &
faster pace of work.
Concrete - Smart
design mix can negate cost & yet give you
improved concrete qualities.
Why are cracks
formed?
Cracks are formed mainly
due to structural defects and movement of
formwork. These are formed because of heat of
hydration, internal, external temperature
gradients, lack of good workmanship, lack of
standard practices such as curing, quality
variation in the cement, aggregate, chips
gradation used. Recron® 3s helps in checking the
cracks formed due to plastic shrinkage,
settlement and drying shrinkage.

most of the additives used in the cement. The
admixtures with plastisizers etc. can be used
along with Recron® 3s without any adverse
effect.
What is the
history of usage of secondary reinforcement in
construction?
- Historical evidences show that secondary
reinforcement in the form of horse hair was in
roman coliseum (80AD).
- Tipu Sultan's palace at Srirangapattanam in
India has been built with sheep's wool.
- An ancient pueblo house in US has adobe
brick with straw reinforcement. Not to forget
our village mud-houses with straw reinforcement.
Thus use of secondary reinforcement
has been a quite ancient concept. With
advancement of technology and innovation in
materials the concept has been fine-tuned to
improve the performance of such materials
greatly.
Is secondary
reinforcement used worldwide in construction
industry?
Use of secondary
reinforcement such as polyester, polypropylene,
nylon is quite popular for various applications
in construction industry in the advance
countries for few decades now.
In developing countries though, the use is
restricted due to high cost of imported
secondary reinforcement. Recron® 3s is most cost-effective
solution for cracks offered to the construction
industry. This has been possible due to the
economy of scale, backward integration and high
quality offered by Reliance.
