Innovation and Technology
Reliance has a comprehensive IP governance framework to strengthen and manage its patent portfolio, ensuring alignment with the Company’s strategic business objectives. In 2025, RIL O2C continued to advance its Intellectual Property (IP) initiatives, filing 48 new patent applications and securing approval for 28 patents. As of March 31, 2025, a total of 1,156 patents were granted to RIL. Jio has filed over 3,341 patents to date, including 1,654 patents in FY 2024-25. Jio Platforms and its subsidiaries were granted 154 patents in FY 2024-25. As of March 31, 2025, Jio held 485 patents, establishing itself as one of India’s largest patent holders, particularly in 5G and 6G technologies.

Data Privacy and Cyber Security
Reliance’s cybersecurity strategy is built on the principles of ‘Zero Trust’, ‘Security-by-Design’ and ‘Defense-in-Depth’. The Company adheres to the principles of ‘Privacy-by-Design’ and ‘Privacy-by-Default’, implementing stringent controls to ensure data is processed ethically and legally while maintaining stakeholder trust and transparency. Reliance’s key businesses are assessed and certified against global standards such as ISO 27001 (O2C, Retail), ISO 27701 (Retail), GDPR (JWC and NMACC) and PCI-DSS (Retail, RBML). The technology operations in its Digital Services business maintain ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications. The Company also launched Privacy Suraksha Handbook during the Data Privacy Awareness Week 2025, which provides clear, actionable privacy best practices, especially in light of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), 2023. Additionally, an in-house Generative AI-powered interactive security awareness assistant, Rovomind, has been rolled out for assisting users with context-specific guidance on cybersecurity.
