Innovation and
Technology
Reliance has a structured IP governance framework to manage and strengthen its patent portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic business priorities. During FY 2025–26, the O2C business continued to strengthen its intellectual property portfolio and drive technology‑led value creation. As of March 31, 2026, Reliance O2C has filed 2,527 patent applications across 55+ countries, of which 1,177 patents have been granted. A key strategic priority remains the translation of internally developed technologies into scalable, commercially viable solutions that enhance operational excellence and support long‑term growth.
Jio Platforms Limited and its subsidiaries have cumulatively filed 6,817 patents as of March 31, 2026 (not withdrawn, ceased, abandoned, or rejected). Of these, 2,393 were filed in India, and 4,424 have been filed in foreign jurisdictions. Of the total filings, 1,009 patents have been granted globally, comprising 538 grants in India and 471 across foreign jurisdictions. Jio has emerged as one of India’s largest creators of intellectual property, with a strong focus on next-generation digital technologies, particularly 5G and 6G. This expanding portfolio reflects sustained investment in indigenous innovation, supported by Jio’s proprietary end-to-end technology stack, including self-developed hardware, software, OSS/BSS systems and its standalone 5G architecture. This reinforces Reliance’s technology leadership across its digital and connectivity businesses.
