Nita Ambani is a non-executive, non-independent Director on the Board of Reliance Industries Limited. She is engaged in several initiatives that have strengthened Reliance – from building a world-class township in Jamnagar to developing next-generation office campuses, healthcare initiatives and customer touch points for Reliance Retail.
She leads 13 schools that educate more than 15,000 students, and has successfully set up and led institutions, including the Dhirubhai Ambani International School and Reliance Foundation. She is the guiding spirit behind the Mumbai Indians’ “Education for All” initiative, which has impacted more than 27,000 children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Nita Ambani is also the president of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, a world-class hospital. She launched Reliance Foundation Drishti ten years ago. Today, the programme organises the largest corporate cornea transplant drive in India and has completed almost 13,000 transplants. In 2012, Drishti launched a registered international Braille newspaper in Hindi; it now has circulation in 19 countries.
In 2013, SCSVMV University Kanchipuram conferred upon her an Honorary Doctoral Degree for her contributions to the social sector. In 2012, the All India Management Association honoured her with the ‘Corporate Citizen of the Year’ award. She was ranked as the ‘Most Powerful Woman in Indian Business’ by Business Today in 2011.
Nita Ambani is a promoter and holds 33,98,146 shares of the company in her name as on 31 March 2014. She is also on the board of EIH Limited.
Hital Meswani is an Executive Director on the Board of Reliance. A chemical engineer from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and an alumnus of Wharton Business School, he joined Reliance in 1990. He leads the petroleum refining, manufacturing, and research & technology activities of the organisation. He was instrumental in the successful execution of several mega projects, including the Hazira petrochemicals complex and the world's largest refinery complex at Jamnagar.
In recognition of his contribution to process industries, he received an honorary fellowship from the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). He is the recipient of The 2011 D. Robert Yarnall Award from The Engineering Alumni Society of the University of Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is a Director of Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings and Reliance Commercial Dealers; the Chairman of the Audit Committee of Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings; and a member of the Audit Committee of Reliance Commercial Dealers. He is also a member of the Finance Committee and Shareholders'/Investors' Grievance Committee, and the Chairman of the Health, Safety and Environment Committee of the company.
Nikhil Meswani is an Executive Director on the Board of Reliance. A chemical engineer from the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) Mumbai, he joined Reliance in 1986. Working primarily in the Petrochemicals division, he contributed towards Reliance’s leadership position in the petrochemicals industry. He also shoulders several other corporate responsibilities, including corporate affairs and group taxation policies. He takes a keen interest in IPL cricket franchise ‘Mumbai Indians’.
Nikhil Meswani was the President of Association of Synthetic Fibre Industry and also the youngest Chairman of Asian Chemical Fibre Industries Federation. He was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2005 and continues to actively participate in the activities of the Forum.In 2016, he was ranked 24th by ICIS in Top 40 Power Players, a global ranking of the leading senior executives making the greatest positive impact on their companies and the chemical industry.
In addition, he is a Director of Reliance Commercial Dealers Limited and a member of the Finance Committee and the Shareholders/Investors' Grievance Committee of the company. He is the Chairman of the Audit Committee of Reliance Commercial Dealers Limited.
PMS Prasad is an Executive Director at Reliance and one of the longest serving members on the Board and the company. He has contributed to the growth of Reliance over the past three decades and has held various posts in the petrochemicals, refining and marketing, exploration and production and fibres businesses of the company. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in science and engineering.
His exemplary leadership in steering the diversification of RIL – from a refining and petrochemicals company to an exploration and product business company earned him the Energy Executive of the Year Award in 2008 from Petroleum Economist. For his contribution to the petroleum sector, he has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Petroleum Engineering, Dehradun.
A member of the Board of Governors of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Prasad is also a member of the Health, Safety and Environment Committee and the Audit Committee of Reliance Commercial Dealers.
PK Kapil is an Executive Director on the Board of Reliance. With experience spanning four decades, he is a driving force in the HSE, Technology, Reliability and Operations of all manufacturing sites. He joined Reliance in 1996 and led the commissioning and starting-up of the Jamnagar complex. In 2005, under his leadership, the Jamnagar refinery became the first Asian refinery to be declared the 'Best Refinery in the World', at the World Refining & Fuel Conference, San Francisco, USA. He also led the commissioning of the manufacturing operations in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Jamnagar.
A true oil industry veteran, his expertise ranges from technical services to operations and from energy optimisation to debottlenecking. In recognition of his achievements, the Chemtech Foundation conferred on him the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award for Oil Refining’ in 2008. He is also a member of the research council of the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun. He is a member of the Health, Safety and Environment Committee of Reliance.
RA Mashelkar is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. An eminent scientist and champion of the innovation movement in India, he is the Chairman of Reliance Innovation Council.
He served as the Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for 11 years. He is also currently is the President of Global Research Alliance, the Chairman of India’s National Innovation Foundation, a member of National Innovation Council and a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.
A recipient of honorary doctorates from 29 universities, he won several awards from various institutions for his outstanding contribution in the field of science and technology. He won the JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award in 1998 and the Business Week (USA) ‘Stars of Asia’ award in 2005. The President of India bestowed three of India’s highest civilian awards on RA Mashelkar – the Padma Shri in 1991, the Padma Bhushan in 2000, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2014.
He is a member of the Audit Committee and the Remuneration Committee of Reliance. He is also a Director of Tata Motors, Hindustan Unilever, Thermax, KPIT Cummins Infosystems, IKP Knowledge Park, Piramal Enterprises and several private limited companies. He is also a Director of Reliance Gene Medix PLC.
Adil Zainulbhai is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. One of the world’s foremost consultants, he is a mechanical engineering graduate from IIT and holds an MBA from Harvard. During his 34-year stint at McKinsey, he led its Washington office and founded the Minneapolis office before retiring as the Chairman of McKinsey, India.
Over the last 10 years, he worked directly with the CEOs and promoters of some of the major companies in India and aboard. Adil has also been working with several parts of the government and has led efforts around urbanisation, inclusive growth and energy. He serves as the Chairman of the Human Resources and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and a member of the Audit Committee of Reliance.
He is a member on the boards of American India Foundation, Saifee Hospital, Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust, Advisory Board of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Wockhardt Foundation, Health Management Research Institute, and Harvard Business School Alumni Association of India. He is also on the global advisory board of the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago.
Mansingh Bhakta is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. An advocate par excellence, he has almost six decades of experience. A senior partner in M/s. Kanga & Company, a leading firm of advocates and solicitors in Mumbai, he is an expert in corporate law, taxation and banking. He is a legal advisor to leading foreign and Indian companies and banks.
He served as the Chairman of the Taxation Law Standing Committee of Law Asia, an association of lawyers of the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, he is an independent Director on the Board of Jyoti CNC Automation Limited. A recipient of the Rotary Centennial Service Award for Professional Excellence from Rotary International, he has been nominated consecutively for six years as one of the ‘Leading Lawyers of Asia’ by Asia Law Journal, a leading international law journal based in Hong Kong.
Dipak Jain is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. One of the world’s top educationalists, he is a former Dean of Kellogg School of Management and INSEAD. A graduate of Guwahati University and University of Texas, he is a distinguished teacher and marketing scholar.
He has received many honours, including the Sidney Levy Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1995; the John D.C. Little Best Paper Award in 1991; Kraft Research Professorships in 1989-90 and 1990-91; the Beatrice Research Professorship in 1987-88; and the Outstanding Educator Award from the State of Assam in India in 1982.
Dipak C.Jain is a Director of Reliance Retail Limited, a member of its Audit Committee and a member of the Employees' Stock Compensation Committee of the company. He is also a Director of John Deere & Company, Global Logistics Properties and Northern Trust Bank. In addition, he is also a Director on the Board of HT Global Education.
Dharam Vir Kapur is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. A technology, industrial development and project implementation expert, he has a long and illustrious career in the Indian government. He is a graduate in electrical engineering with experience in power, capital goods, petrochemicals and chemical industries.
He has been on the boards of a number of national institutions such as the Advisory Committee of the Cabinet for Science and Technology, Atomic Energy Commission, IIT Bombay and IIM Lucknow Board of Governors, and National Productivity Council. The Council of Power Utilities awarded him the ‘India Power, Life Time Achievement Award’. In addition, ENERTIA awarded him the Life Time Achievement Award for his contribution to the power and energy sector and for his leadership in the fledgling NTPC.

Yogendra Trivedi is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. He is an expert in the fields of economics, politics, education, sports, and social and professional services. A recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, he has also been honoured by an honorary doctorate from the Fakir Mohan University, Odisha.
He is also the Chairman of Sai Service Station Limited and Trivedi Consultants Private Limited; the Director of Supreme Industries Limited, Zodiac Clothing Company Limited, The Seksaria Biswan Sugar Factory Limited, New Consolidated Construction Company Limited, Emami Limited and Metro Exporters Private Limited; and the Chairman of Indo-African Chamber of Commerce. Ashok Misra is an independent Director on the Board of Reliance. An IIT Director from 2000-2008, Misra was the driving force behind its transformation into a leading research and development institute. A chemical engineer and alumnus of IIT Kanpur, he did his M.S in Chemical Engineering from the Tufts University and has a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
He is the Founder President of the Polymer Processing Academy and the former President of the Society of Polymer Science (India). He is the Chairman of Intellectual Ventures and an independent Director on the Board of Jubilant Industries Limited and a member of its Audit Committee and Compensation Committee. He is a member of the Central Advisory Board of Education (MHRD), Board of Governors of IIT Delhi, and the Investment Committee of Aditya Birla Private Equity - Sunrise Fund.
His outstanding contributions have earned him many accolades, including distinguished alumnus awards from all his alma maters – IIT Kanpur, Tufts University and University of Massachusetts. He has been awarded the Doctor of Science by Thapar University, Patiala, and the Distinguished Service Award by IIT Delhi during its Golden Jubilee in 2011. Raminder Singh Gujral is an Independent Director on the Board of Reliance. His diverse qualifications include a B.A. (Honours) in Economics, an L.L.B., an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and an M.A. in International Finance/Business from The Fletcher School, Tufts University.
He joined the Indian Administrative Services from the Haryana Cadre in 1976 and retired from the post of Finance Secretary for the Government of India in 2013.
He has held the positions of Secretary (Revenue), Secretary (Expenditure) and Secretary (Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways) in the Government of India. He served as the Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India, the Director General of Foreign Trade and also the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Financial Management.
